Who we are and what we do.
I’m the Manager of Elim Pre-School. I’m a local girl, having been brought up in Southport and I’m married with two young children.
I have been working within Early Years for the past twenty four years where I have accumulated vast amounts of experience of working with children aged 2 to 5, the past 23 years I have been at Bishop David Sheppard School. I have run Startright Parent Groups and done outreach work for Families First. I am a qualified NNEB Nursery Nurse and have an Advanced Diploma in Child Care and Education.
I have been on numerous courses over the years adding to my knowledge and keeping me up to date with current requirements. I am also an active member of a local church running children’s events. If you have any questions relating to the Pre-School and all that we can offer, please feel free to chat with me.
You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I now work part time at the Pre-School as Deputy Manager and am the Pre-School Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). I am qualified as a childcare practitioner and enjoy working with young children and believe in learning through play – the messier the activity the better!
I have worked with different ages of children with different individual needs over the last 12 years both in nursery settings and in a residential house for children on the Autism spectrum.
I have been on a variety of courses and enjoy learning and gaining new ideas and experiences that I can then implement at Pre-School. I really enjoy practical tasks and like to make and bring things in to the setting that will develop the children further such as the mud kitchen and story bags. I find working with children really rewarding and enjoy seeing how much progress each child makes during their time with us.
I have been working with children since 2000 and am a qualified Playworker Level 3 and this is where my heart lies for a child’s learning and development.
My experience has led me along various different paths, from working with Tumble Tots – developing physical agility and co-ordination in children from 6 months to 7 years, to working as a Pre-School Parent-Helper at my Daughter’s Primary School when I supported reading.
I have experience as a Pre-School gymnastic coach and have been in supportive roles in a range of Nurseries and Children’s Centres, culminating in setting up and managing an Out of School provision, which then led me to my Studies at Edge Hill in Early Years. I enjoy getting ‘stuck in’ and getting right down to the children’s level and treating each child with respect for their individuality. I currently support SEND in our setting as one of the SENCO's.
Courses - Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, Making Effective Transitions, Schemas, Forest Schools, and more recently Phonics Explosion and Language Champion.
I am a qualified NNEB and I have worked with pre-school children for 26 years, which I really enjoy. Most of my working life has been at private schools but for five years whilst my own children were young, I worked part-time in playgroups.
I have worked at Elim Pre-School since September 2005, and I really enjoy it here as the staff and children are wonderful.
My strengths include being creative, adaptable and fun-loving. Although I have lots of experience with children, I feel I am learning all the time. Recent courses I have been on include Child Protection, 101 Things To Do Outdoors, Understanding Children’s Behavior and Pediatric First Aid.
I work part-time here at the Pre-School, in the mornings and over lunchtime. I am the key worker for the youngest children.
I qualified as an early years / primary teacher in 1996 with a BA (QTS) honours degree and I have had lots of experience in working with children in the foundation stage and beyond.
Both my own children came to Elim Pre-School and thoroughly enjoyed it and I always felt assured that they were being well looked after and being given plenty of exciting learning opportunities. I have always loved working with children and feel they have so much to teach us.
I am also a member of Lakeside Church.
In 1995, I qualified as a teacher with a B.A. (QTS) Hons from Edge Hill University. I worked for a year as a reception / year one / year two class teacher at Holy Family Primary School. I then worked for a year at Great Crosby Primary School as a year one teacher.
From 1997 until 2003, I gave up teaching to become a full-time mum to two children. During this time, I took a correspondence course on teaching special needs children and did some voluntary work at Peterhouse School. When my youngest child started full time at school, I took a refresher course in teaching and became a supply teacher. Although I have worked throughout the primary sector, most of my work was within foundation stage particularly in the year before joining Elim Pre-School.
In October 2006, I joined Elim Pre-School as Manager and in 2014 I stepped down from this role to work every morning. Since being at Elim, I have been involved in lots of training related to special needs, safeguarding and supporting two year olds.
I am the Language Champion for the setting which means that I help to monitor children’s progress within speaking and understanding and support them when needed.
Hello, my name is Linda. I work part-time in Pre-School and I am qualified as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. I have been employed and worked voluntary with children from Early years to Secondary school, in council and private educational settings. In 1983 I became Youth / Junior Officer and Branch Secretary for the British Red Cross Southport. In my role I visited settings instructing on First Aid. In 2004 I trained as a Teaching Assistant while working at Farnborough Road Infant and Junior schools. I was a key member teaching pupils on the Spelling Made Easy Program. I have been craft co-ordinator within an after school club in Ainsdale and with churches together in Ainsdale. In my previous employment I completed a SENCO course and gained a vast amount of experience of Early Years and with children who have disabilities or medical conditions. I love my work and continue to gain knowledge and experience and make learning fun for the children.

As a family our connection with Elim Pre-school dates back 15 years, my own niece came here when she was a child and thrived with the care provided. I started working at the Pre-school 3 years ago and have loved every minute since. Soon afterward staring, I began a part-time Foundation Degree in Early Years Practice, which I completed with Distinction in the summer of 2018.
I originally qualified as a nurse in 2004 and worked as part of a Community Nursing team for the next 3.5 years. I then went into youth work, becoming the Youth Pastor for another local Church for nearly a decade before moving into Early Years.
I now work part-time in the Pre-school as I complete my final year at Edge Hill University to gain my B.A. Hons in Early Years Practice. I love my role here at Elim, I constantly learn something new from the children about the world. It is a privilege to work alongside practitioners who value children and who help create a caring, enthusiastic environment for everyone to grow.
